RockyMounts Roof Bike Racks Review - 2016 Kia Soul

Today, on our 2016 Kia Soul, we'll be doing a test fit on the RockyMounts SwitchHitter Roof-Mounted Bike Rack, that's part number RKY1270. I've already got it loaded up and mounted to our Kia Soul's factory roof rack system. I'd just like to point out that it's going to work with your round, square, arrow, elliptical, and most factory roof rack systems as well. It secures our bike in two places. We have this rear wheel strap here, going over our rear wheel, and we also have this 9mm quick-release skewer. It's also going to work with your 12mm and 15mm through axles, so that's a really nice feature. I'd like to point out, with the way we have it mounted, we're going to able to gain a little bit of access to our rear hatch, about that high up. more

I'm using the factory roof rack system that came with the Soul. I'd like to point out that it's going to work with a wide variety of roof rack systems, including your round, square, arrow, elliptical, and most factory roof racks system as well. Right away, one of the best features about this bike rack is that it has zero frame contact. It secures our bike in 3 places. We have a rear wheel strap here, we have a front wheel strap, and then we have a large wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure on our front wheel into the wheel tray. I'd also like to point out that with the way we have it positioned on our roof rack, we can access our rear hatch. more

We can still open it up all the way; got plenty of room to remove any cargo, gear, groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. Let's take off our bike and take a closer look. more
